2017 Best of Fashion

2017 Best of Fashion

Moving on to the next set of favorites, today we’re discussing my 2017 Best of Fashion, or Fashion Favorites as I like to call them. I’ve lumped in everything that I wore the most in 2017 on my body-whether that was a handbag, jewelry, shoes, or actual clothes. Just like the Best of Beauty post, I’ve broken down all my picks into categories for you. Let’s start with one of my favorites…handbags!

HANDBAGS
If you’re a long time reader, then you’ll know my love for GiGi New York. I’ve been carrying their bags for about 4-5 years now, and I even got to be their ambassador to launch a special limited collection this fall. I love the simplicity of their bags, the color options, the price point…they just tick a lot of boxes for me. So it should not be a surprise that my most worn bag for 2017 was their Zip Taylor Tote. It’s a smaller sized tote, that completely zips. It’s the perfect bag for everyday wear or travel, and I adore it.

JEWELRY
I have quite a few favorites, and again, I tend to gravitate to the same brands. Kendra Scott, Gorjana, Argento Vivo and BaubleBar are perennial picks, but I also discovered a brand that’s new to me-Nickel & Suede. If you’re familiar with the blogger One Little Momma, then you’ll know all about the line of leather-based jewelry she and her husband sell. She’s a great woman and it’s a great brand-especially if you want to wear larger earrings but your lobes can’t support the weight.

SHOES
I have come to realize in my advanced age that what makes me most happy are shoes that come in taupe/nude and grey, and I like to buy multiple pairs of the same shoe in both colors. Also, after reflecting on my most worn shoes from 2017, I have realized that I tend to wear a lot of booties-open toed in the warmer months and close toed in the colder months. I am clearly a creature of habit. And if I’m not wearing my booties, I’m either in slip-on sneakers or slippers. That doesn’t mean I don’t love a nice heel or pump, but I definitely have a shoe uniform!

CLOTHING
Keeping with the “uniform” theme, I’d say my go-to outfit is a t-shirt and jeans, with some added layers when it’s cold. Check out some of my most worn outfits and I’ll think you’ll see a theme (and see a lot of the same shoes)!
Note the shoes and the earrings above…

Typical daily uniform of Caslon tee, Kut From The Kloth jeans and Sperry slip-on sneakers

This blazer is a must-have for your spring/summer wardrobe. It’s the perfect layering piece for warm weather.

Speaking of layering, this cardigan is my all-time favorite (see the photo below in another color). And here are those jeans again…

The same cardigan (in ivory), Kut From The Kloth Jeans and Sperry’s (again)!

My transitional wardrobe is just my warm weather uniform of tee and jeans, but wear close-toe booties and throw on a layer! Do the necklace and earrings look familiar too?

Natori Underwire T-Shirt BrasI need to also mention the most worn item of clothing from 2017 that you’ll never see: my bra. I now own 4-5 . A well-fitted bra makes all the difference in how your clothes fit, and how you feel. If you live anywhere near a Nordstrom, I highly recommend going to their Lingerie department and getting properly measured. It’s a free service and for me, it was a big eye-opener!

So what were your most worn pieces from 2017? Do you see yourself changing anything substantially for 2018? Are there any new trends, colors or styles that you want to incorporate into your closet for the coming year? Let me know!
