January 2016 Favorites

January Favorites

I know that all during January I highlighted my favorite products in my “Best of 2015” series, but this video is all about my favorites from the first month of 2016. I guess I was feeling a bit nostalgic, because there are a few old favorites that popped up for a second (or third) time, as well as a whole bunch of new loves.

One of my goals for 2016 is to get a little more organized, so I’d like to carry this goal over to my blog posts as well. I’ve tried to divvy up my favorites into three categories: Beauty, Fashion, and Lifestyle

BEAUTY
It should come as no surprise to anyone who follows me that the new immediately made it to my favorites list. The two other palettes from this line made it to my Best of 2015-Beauty List, and this new one is no disappointment. I love that this palette mixes both warm and cool neutral tones, and adds a new pop of color-pink! While I was at picking up the , I made an impulsive purchase of the . I don’t usually wear lip gloss, but this product is so unique. It’s almost like a sheer lipstick that can be worn on it’s own or over lip liner/lipstick to transform or enhance the color, plus it smells SO good!

Some other beauty favorites from this month include the new . I was sent two of them and they’re every grown up, makeup wearing woman’s dream. They highlight without glitter, and the range of colors means there’s a shade for every skin tone. As with all Hourglass products, they blend seamlessly into the skin, making these highlighters appropriate for day time wear as well. Another old favorite was the . I’ve noticed a few gaps in my eyebrows that my usual pencil or powder couldn’t quite fill in, but the worked brilliantly. I think I like it more now than I did before because it’s dried out a bit. So if you have this but didn’t like it originally, give it another go!

FASHION
I’m using the term “fashion” loosely here-I don’t think I’m going to top anyone’s best dressed lists. But I’ve included all clothes, accessories, bags, basically anything worn on the body (or carried) in this category. One piece of clothing that had to make the list is the. It’s an oversized, incredibly soft, almost chenille type of yarn that drapes beautifully, goes with all sorts of choices on the bottom half of the body and comes in some very flattering colors. I loved it so much that I bought every color!

A perennial favorite of mine is anything from –and I’ve picked up three of their new releases that I can’t stop wearing. has finally expanded their Druzy Crystal line (remember the Crystal Cocktail ring that I wore for most of 2015) to include earrings and necklaces. Two of my favorites are the Druzy Ball Chain Pendant in grey and the Midnight Druzy Drops in black/gold. I think you’ll love them too! I also ordered the new Starshooter ring, and I think I’m going to like it even more than my 2015 Crystal Mason Ring!

A new/old favorite are my from Target. I used to get so many shoes from Target, but then I fell a little bit out of love with the quality of the shoes. Target has really expanded their Sam & Libby line, and these faux-suede grey booties that are on clearance are wonderful! They look expensive (they’re not) and they are incredibly comfortable, especially with the rubber soles!

LIFESTYLE
This is sort of a catch-all category–the stuff that makes my life better, but isn’t Fashion or Beauty. This is where I’ll talk about books, recipes, people, things for the home, travel, etc. So let’s start with a person AND a thing-Coffee Break With Dani and her collaboration with Zahra Beauty. I really enjoy watching Dani’s YouTube channel (CBWD) because of her upbeat personality, the production quality of her videos, and her VERY honest and transparent nature. We need more people like Dani making videos! Obviously the people at Zahra Beauty felt the same, because they collaborated with Dani to make a 5 Slot Acrylic Organizer that is every makeup junkie’s dream. I actually ordered 4 of them, and I feel like I could order 4 more! They’re limited edition, and at $25/each I have a feeling they’re going to sell out.

I’m not a huge candle burner, but when I find one I like, I become a little obsessed. I rediscovered my love for the . It doesn’t have the sugary sweetness you usually find when paired with a vanilla scent. This one is just straight up warm, grown up, and well, sexy cinnamon, and it’s great for every room in the house.

Finally, since this seems to be the month for re-disovering old favorites, I’ve begun re-reading for the umpteenth time the by Diana Gabaldon. Right now I’m in the middle of (Book 4), and at this rate I’ll finish the last one in June!
