April 2016 Favorites

This is absolutely my favorite kind of video to make-the roundup of my monthly favorites of the month.  I always try to mention a little bit of everything-beauty, fashion, books, TV shows, sometimes even other YouTubers.  This month wasn’t the longest list, but there were a few stand-outs I had to share with you!

BEAUTY
The month kicked off with the annual spring VIB Sale (read my sale picks here) and while I picked up a few things, only one made it to the Favorites list.  I absolutely adore , either worn by itself or mixed with a foundation, like another favorite, .  Mixed with a foundation, it adds a lovely glow as well as an addition of SPF 30.  It’s a win-win!  And speaking of glow…the gives me the effect of an in your face highlighter, while still blending more naturally with my skin tone since it isn’t such a stark whitish color. I can’t recommend it enough for those who want to try a stronger highlight but are afraid of looking like a disco ball.  The eyeshadow palette that I’ve reached for over and over is the .  The name says it all-it is made up of lovely natural tones and when applied with the standard light shimmer on the lid, matte brown in the crease makes my eyes…pop!!  And lastly, a beauty tool that has elevated my hair game is the .  I’m still not great at doing my own hair, but this fun little gadget actually gives me as close to Victoria’s Secret hair as I’m going to get on my own.

FASHION
If you’ve been watching the vlogs, you’ll know I recently discovered a store that has quickly become a favorite for cute, on-trend clothing at VERY reasonable prices.  A store that I had discounted as a store that was not for me, but couldn’t have been more wrong, and that store is .  Aside from the unfortunate choice of name (what woman wants to say they shop in a barn!!), there’s not one bad thing I can say about them.  One of my favorite dresses that I bought recently is the , which I wore in Miami, then wore to a blogger conference, and will wear to my Mother’s Day Brunch.  Recent finds from BaubleBar that jumped to favorites status are the and .  I wore them to a recent Fiesta party but they’re actually great to give a little something extra to a basic t-shirt and jeans kind of outfit.  I’ve been wearing them together and I know they’re going to be a my late spring/summer staple in my wardrobe.

LIFESTYLE
My favorite thing to do is read, and when my favorite book series is turned into a television series, well, then my life is pretty darn good.   the book series debuted as a television series last year, and Season 2 just premiered on Starz this month.  In anticipation of Season 2 starting I have been re-reading all 8 books in the series (I just started Book 8 yesterday). If you haven’t yet experienced the world of Outlander, grab Book 1, aptly titled , and get ready to not move for a few days until you finish it.  Or, you can catch up on the first season on Amazon, which covers the storyline of Book 1.  I do have one “unfavorite”, if you will, and that’s the newest Housewives franchise on Bravo–The Real Housewives of Dallas.  I know that the other cities aren’t exactly known for deep thinking, strong morals, or even decent examples of women, but I think Bravo has hit a new low with the vapid, sniping, whining women they’ve chosen to represent Dallas.  However, like any good train wreck, I can’t stop watching.  Someone stop me, please!!  I’d love to know what you think of the show if you’ve had a look!
