My Sephora VIB Sale Wish List

I’ve been putting together my wish list (or shopping list, in all reality) for the big Sephora VIB sale coming up this week (November 6-10).  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the VIB thing, it’s a special reward level status that is achieved by spending an embarrassing amount of money at Sephora in a calendar year.  Once you reach VIB Rouge status (which means you’ve spent even more money), you get a pretty, shiny red card for your wallet, a nice little goody bag, and more opportunities throughout the year to spend even more money.
The big sale of the year is the Sephora VIB sale, which always happens in November and gives us 20% everything in the store.  I’m trying to be organized and make a list so I don’t run in there and either completely freeze up and forget what I meant to buy OR start grabbing random things off the shelves (both of which I’ve been known to do).  I’ve also received a lot of requests from you to share my list, so below is the itemized list with an explanation as to why I’m planning on buying these items.  I’m not sharing EVERYTHING-I’m also planning on doing some holiday shopping for friends and relatives, and in the off-chance they read my blog, I don’t want to blow the surprise for them!
I thank you in advance if you use my links to shop the post-all of them are affiliate links and I do earn a small commission if you choose to use them (the prices are the same whether you shop in store or use my links).
Happy shopping!
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a new concealer, and my old standby, Maybelline Fit Me, is starting to cake up on me, so I thought, it’s on sale, better just get it now.  Can’t wait to try it and review it for you!
I am fascinated by this new line of lipsticks from NARS.  I’ve swatched them in the store a few times, and since I knew the sale was coming up, I decided to wait until November.  I haven’t decided between Brigitte, Anna, Claudia or Anita.  Odds are more than one will make it home.
This is not a very exciting purchase, but I think it’s time to upgrade from my Maybelline tweezer that I’ve had for 15 years.
I have accumulated quite a few large sized samples of .  I thought it would be a good idea to decant them into one atomizer so I can actually use it.
I just ran out of mine, and it’s something that I will always have in my collection.  Nothing conceals raised blemishes better.  Nothing.
I’ve tried the most expensive bronzers (Tom Ford) and the least expensive bronzers, and this one is just hands down the best one out there.  I’ve just about hit pan on mine, so a sale is a good time to grab a backup.
Since I’ve started wearing a lot of brighter shades of lipstick, I’ve noticed it’s better to use a lipliner with them.  I’ve been curious about this product for awhile, so I’m grabbing one now while it’s 20% off.
Lately all my powders seem cakey on my face, and I’ve read good things about this one.  We shall see…
Whenever I have a meeting or an important party to go to, I ALWAYS reach for one of my YSL Glossy Stains.  I noticed that I don’t have a great neutral one, so, since it’s sale time…Beige Anarchist and Mighty Mauve are the ones I’m considering for now.
I saw Fleur de Force mention this in a recent favorites video.  Enough said.
This is a maybe…we’ll see how much other stuff I’ve already picked up before I go for it.  I’ve wanted this blush for a very long time, but I’m not sure it’s all that different from a few I already have.
I always grab teacher gifts during this sale.  The hand creams come in a pack of ten for $88 (sale price is $72), so that averages $7 per teacher.  I think that’s a pretty good deal, and I know if I was still a teacher I’d rather have a luxe hand cream than another gift card to Starbucks.  Of course, the men will get gift cards to Starbucks, but oh well.
There are also a couple of holiday palette/gift sets that I have my eye on, but those are intended for gifts for friends and family, so I won’t mention them specifically here.
Is there anything on my list that you think I must have?  I’m specifically not getting any skincare products-I’ve decided to just stick with my Colleen Rothschild routine because my skin reacts so well to it and I don’t want to mess with a good thing.
I can’t wait to see what you suggest-and let me know what you’re planning on getting!

  1. Thanks for posting this! I was curiuos what you were buying. I posted my VIB cart today too. We have one crossover, but I only put it in because you always recommend it: the Too Faced Bronzer. But now I want to go in the store and check out the lipglosses and lipsticks you listed.

  2. I plan to stock up on some staples, such as my Living Proof hair care (shampoo/conditioner, flex spray, straight spray) and Clarisonic brush heads. I may spring for the Luxe body brush head as well. I think I will also splurge on the L'Occitane Amande Milk Concentrate. It's so wonderful but I can't bring myself to spend $50 on it. I'm already struggling with the thought of spending $40.

  3. Oh, I also meant to add that I think you should cut your hair. I'm a big beliver of "it's only hair, it will grow back". If you're worried about it, just try to cut about 2-3 inches off at a time. If you're okay with it, go another couple inches shorter for the next time. But I think having it to your collarbone would be a super cute length. I wish I could wear my hair as long as yours but it's so thick and unruly (not super curly, just wavy and frizzy), I just can't maintain it… unless I could afford weekly blowouts, which I cannot. So I'm stuck with shoulder-length hair.

  4. Awesome Choices Marnie! I am thinking of either the Original Naked 1, have the 2 & dont use it, or the Choc Bar palette, nothing exciting really, I actually have too many items on my list! I know I have to pick the Caudalie Lip Treatment, excellent product & works on my very chapped lips! I have the Nars pressed powder & I am on the fence about it, has a hard film over it & its hard to tell if you have product on your brush, I dont see any magic when using it either, I keep hoping for the magic though. Anxious to hear your thoughts on this if you purchase.

    1. I heard the same thing about the Nars powder, but I have a plan-I'm going to take one of my disposable mascara wands and rub off the top layer. I've tried that on other powders and it works like a charm. If it doesn't, I'll just return it!

  5. I'm always hesitant to give anyone anything scented, ( the hand creams) for fear that they won't like it. For me anything with Vanilla gives me headaches to the point I will get nauseous. My son is in H.S. an Junior, and Teacher gifts stopped in Elementry school unless it's one of his favorite teachers or coaches. I plan on getting a the too faced bronzer, Laura Mericer Primer, and the Caudalie Premier Cru The Eye Cream. For the cost of the eye cream I'm hoping it turns back 10 years!

    1. I was a teacher (and always will be a teacher at heart), so I appreciate what the teachers do for my kids, no matter what grade they're in. I have one in 8th grade and one who is also a junior, and I ALWAYS give all of them a small gift. If they don't like the hand cream or the Starbucks card, they can always give it to a friend, but at least they'll know I'm thinking of them and appreciate what they do for my kids.

  6. Are you going to the VIB event at the store the evening of the 5th? I love those events…I am looking at getting gifts and Nars products. I have been trying something new with every sale. Living Proof Flex Spray was my last new find, love it.
