UPDATED Warm Weather Makeup with Nordstrom!
This post is sponsored by Nordstrom. #NordstromPartner
I tend to use the same basic makeup products year round, but there are a few changes (or additions) that I make for major temperature shifts, like spring into summer. I try to look for lighter weight complexion products, products to help me fake a tan, take down shine, add bronze, and just more warmer tones in general. Nordstrom has been my go-to place to shop for beauty since I started wearing makeup in the 1980’s and it still is for me now! I ordered all of these online and if you haven’t tried them yet, you might want to give it a shot!
COMPLEXION PRODUCTS
Let’s go in the order of application:
I prefer to use a standalone sunscreen for the best sun protection. I really like this one because I have only been applying sunless tanner to my body, so this gives enough warmth to my face and neck that it’s not too much of a difference from the rest of my body. It also has a sheer finish so you can still see my skin underneath, and it plays well under all the foundations I’ve tried with it.
I’m sure I’m not using this exactly as they recommend, but I’ve been adding a few drops of this to my winter foundation shade to help match my face to my neck/body. You can also dab it on top of your foundation (or bare skin) to add bronzer to specific parts of your face.
If you want a super lightweight product that still gives you coverage, you’ll love this new release from Hourglass. Once I add concealer and powder, it gives me medium coverage! I wear it in the shade 5 for my “summer” shade.
This has been living in my purse since I bought it. It takes down shine, is almost undetectable on the skin, and comes in several shades. I bumped up to Translucent Medium for summer. It also comes in gorgeous packaging and comes with the cutest little puff!
This one stays at my makeup area-and it’s so finely milled that I can use it to set under my eyes and it never gets cakey!
This blush line is my absolute favorite, and I just added the shade cherry to my collection. It’s the perfect shade to fake a bit of flushed cheeks-almost a sunburnt affect. The blush size itself is small, but even though I’ve used my Pink shade for months and months, there’s no dent in it!
I haven’t picked this up yet, but it’s on my wishlist. It’s essentially a tinted moisturizer in stick form! The reviews are outstanding and I think this may be a great option for carry-on only travel when space is tight!
EYES AND LIP PRODUCTS
I don’t have quite as many new picks for this category, but there are some standouts!
This has become the only palette I’ve reached for almost all month. It has the perfect blend of mattes, satins and shimmers yet it’s not an overwhelming size and it’s easy to take for travel. You can create so many looks from this-from a simple wash of color to a dramatic smokey eye.
The full size Sultry palette was my favorite palette ever, but they discontinued it and released the mini version. This one has a bit more drama and some cool tones too.
When the weather warms up, I tend to wear more glosses and balms, so a lip liner is key in adding longevity to those products. Most pinky nude liners turn brown on me, but this one in the shade Flaunt stays true to “my lips but better”.
Armani Lip Power Long Lasting Satin Lipstick
This one isn’t seasonal but since it’s satiny AND long wearing, it’s great for summer time and all the summer time events. I have the shades 103 and 300.
Clinique Pop Longwear Lipstick
I know, it’s another traditional lipstick but the texture is so balmy and light and this particular shade in Sugar Pop is the perfect late spring shade! This formula comes in several finishes as well.
YSL Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick
The name says it all-it’s basically lip gloss in stick form. It feels SO good on the lips by itself, but also just enhances any lip liner or lipstick that you layer underneath it. I have the shade 02-Sweet Pink that is basically clear with a hint of pink. If you want more pigment, definitely pick a deeper shade.
Loved the warm weather makeup tips! Your product recommendations are on point, and I can’t wait to try the YSL Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick. Thanks for sharing!
