The Weekly Vlog 2016 // Edition #19
This week started slow and then ended with quite the adventure! I don’t want to ruin the surprise, so be sure to watch the video below (if it doesn’t show up in your browser, then click HERE). It involves an unplanned road trip across 4 states!
Other than that major development, the highlight of the week was celebrating Jake’s 18th birthday. We had a VERY low-key family celebration, mostly because we were just coming off a long weekend of celebrating his high school graduation and I think Jake was partied out. Also, because he was taking the ACT college entrance exam the day after his birthday, and he needed a good night’s sleep. For those that are wondering, Jake has already qualified for a ⅔ tuition scholarship to Ole Miss based on his high school GPA and entrance exam scores, but he’s only 1 point away from a full scholarship. So this was his last chance to try to get the full-ride package (he also took the May SAT test, but he needed 80 points to get the same scholarship, so we thought he’d have a better shot with the ACT). If this all sounds confusing, welcome to parenting a college-bound child. It’s a whole different world!
Happy birthday Baby Jake!
Before we celebrated Jake’s birthday, I had the opportunity to celebrate the grand opening of the Santikos Casablanca Movie Theater with a bunch of San Antonio area bloggers. Santikos operates several movie theaters in San Antonio and Houston, but this latest theater is just incredible-it has a bowling alley, full-service restaurant, several dine-in theaters (with food service IN the theater), a gelato bar, and the latest technology in movie equipment. It’s incredible. What’s more incredible is that the Santikos movie theaters are owned by the San Antonio Community Foundation, which means that all the profits from the theaters goes to charity and improving our local community and the seven counties surrounding San Antonio. As of December 2015, they’ve donated almost 12 million dollars to various non-profits in the area. It’s a legacy that the original founder and owner, John Santikos, has left to help generations of San Antonians to come. With all the horrible events happening in the world lately, it’s heartwarming to see there are still incredibly kind people in the world, selflessly paying it forward. Mr. Santikos is no longer with us, but his gift to our community is a testament to the amazing human being he was. In that vein, I’m giving away 4 VIP tickets to any Santikos theater. To enter, you simply have to live near a Santikos theater-so enter the Rafflecopter below:

In case you missed them, I published 3 videos on my YouTube channel this past week. Two of them were regular content, and one was a sponsored video for Vichy skincare. I have been curious about Vichy for years, pretty much since I started on YouTube, because I’ve heard the UK-based YTers rave about it for years. When the brand approached me and asked me to give their products a try, I thought it would be a great opportunity, not only for me to be your guinea pig, but also to give my viewers/readers an option for some more affordable skincare than what I usually talk about. The feedback so far has been great, and I’m pleasantly surprised to see how many of you already use and LOVE Vichy products. Please feel free to recommend more products from their line in the comments below-I’m a HUGE fan of their Night Spa cream right now. Here are this week’s videos (click on the picture to watch them):

As always, thank you so much for subscribing, reading and watching! It’s always my pleasure to spend a little time with you each week! And for those of you who are entering, good luck on the Santikos giveaway!!
