August Favorites
It would be a total lie to say this has been a favorite month of mine, for many reasons. I sent my first born son off to college 618 miles away from me. Football season started, and while a large part of me loves it, a tiny, lazy part of me dreads it (I’m already so tired). School started for Shane, so that means goodbye to lazy summer afternoons and evenings and hello to homework, meetings, and the sense of always being on the go. In spite of all that, I do have some favorites to share with you, and I think you’ll really like them! So let’s quit the pity party and get on with it!
I didn’t have a lot of makeup favorites this month-I’ve been getting a lot of great new products sent to me, but I haven’t had a lot of time to give them the attention they deserve. I do want to give a shout out to the , and . All three held up incredibly well in the extreme heat and humidity of the late summer here in Texas and in Mississippi during move in week for Jake. They also held up through a fair share of tears during the run up to saying good bye to Jake. Two other must have products for this time of year (or all year, really) are the and the . I love the lipstick like finish of the but I adore the fact that they’re liquid and won’t melt in my purse. Add on that they’re long wearing but don’t dry out my lips-perfection! The is a great setting powder, especially for my dry skin. It makes everything look even and set but it has a subtle glow that doesn’t leave my skin looking powdery or cakey. I don’t love the new packaging-it’s tough to open-but it’s still an improvement on the original. I’m holding out for version 3.0!
MAKEUP FAVORITES
I did focus a little more on fashion and accessories this month. reached out to me and asked if I’d be interested in participating in a private, word of mouth only blogger sale. How could I say no? Tomorrow, August 31st is the last day of the sale, which you can shop . You can get 20% off your purchase of $50 or more by using the code MSGOLDGIRL20 (exclusions apply). Anyway, two of my current favorites for August are the (I’m wearing them in the picture above) and the Piñata Tassel Drops. They’re both neutral and go with a lot of outfits, but they each make a statement in their own way. I also added two pairs of shoes to my collection. I’ve been looking for a more adult pair of flip-flop type shoes to replace my beloved gold sandals that have completely fallen apart. I found these on sale-and they are VERY comfortable, too! I also picked up the Sam Edelman Santina Wedges in Oatmeal. Even though they have a 2 1/2 inch heel, I feel like I’m wearing flats. They are SO comfortable!! I have worn them everyday since I got them!!
FASHION/ACCESSORIES FAVORITES
Then there are a few random favorites. A lot of you have asked me what my favorite Vitamin C Treatment is, and it’s probably not a surprise that it’s the Colleen Rothschild Vitamin C Treatment Complex. I’ve been using it for years and I like how it’s packaged in a small metal tube. It makes it easy to store and easy to pack when traveling. Blog readers know I’ve been loving the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer the last couple of months, but I finally shared it with my YouTube viewers as well. I also ordered a 2017 Erin Condren Life Planner in the Blossom Neon White Horizontal Layout. For all my complaining about their customer service in 2015, it really is a great planner. It ticks all my picky boxes! Michael and I also started obsessively watching a new (to us) TV show called Limitless. If you were a fan of White Collar or Chuck, this is a similar concept. Give it a watch and let me know what you think! I’ve also been re-reading the entire Andy Carpenter mystery series by David Rosenfelt. The main character is a criminal defense attorney who is an absolute dog fanatic owned by a Golden Retriever. If you love mysteries and you love dogs, you’ll love this series!
So now that August is just about over, I’m looking forward to what’s in store in September! I’m excited to travel to New York for Fashion Week with my best friend on the Internet and in real life, Erin Busbee!! Stay tuned for more info on that later this week!!
I’ve been enjoying your vlog for several months and am so happy to see your blog. Don’t know why it took me so long to clue in. Thank you for helping this 57 old lady hold onto some beauty!
Hi Marnie! You have quickly become my favorite you tuber. Love all the videos and I think you are a real, authentic person. I’m a budget geek so I have enjoyed watching the M&M budgeting series.
I will stop but the blog more often.
