June Favorites

favorites

If I had to pick a favorite month of the year, it would be June.  School ends (yay!), both of my sons have birthdays this month, my husband and I celebrate our anniversary, and Father’s Day is always fun to celebrate.  There is a LOT of gift giving, but it doesn’t stop me from managing to sneak in a few goodies for me…

Let’s break this month’s favorites down into categories:

ACCESSORIES

t is my new obsession!!

-I custom designed my using their new option (it’s available online and in stores) and these have been my most worn earrings this month.  They go with EVERYTHING!

-thanks to the , I picked up two of these for an amazing price.  I know that they’re marking down more in next week’s , so make sure you stop by to get your own!

has been my go-to place for all my fun jewelry, and this month was no exception.  Here are the two standouts:

-the oval shape makes it more comfortable to wear around the wrist, and the hinged cuff makes it super easy to get on and off.

Crystal Tetra Chain Studs-I love how delicate they are, yet they still manage to make a statement.  I’m also in love with the fact that I CAN’T lose the earring backing!  Genius!

MAKEUP/SKIN CARE

: Other than the ridiculously long name, this has become my “foundation” of choice when I know I’m going to be outside or I’m in a hurry.  I originally gave it a thumbs down, but once I learned NOT to apply moisturizer first, this product went from “fail” to “holy grail” overnight.

Colleen Rothschild Extreme Recovery Cream: While I love the above mentioned , if I use it too many days in a row, my skin needs a little extra moisturizing boost.  The Extreme Recovery Cream never lets me down and never feels greasy.

: A subscriber recommended this, and it is AMAZING!  Blows the pricier versions away!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Natural Beauty: It looks like clown makeup in the pan, but applied with a light hand gives me the perfect “just in from the cold” sort of look, even in the hot summer! A universally flattering shade!

Hard Candy Natural Eyes Palette: It’s $6, it’s an almost exact dupe for the Too Faced version, and I like the colors better!

: It’s nice for sculpting my face, but it’s GREAT for a matte eye look too!

TV SHOWS & BOOKS

My two guilty pleasures that start new seasons in June are the Real Housewives of New York and the Real Housewives of Orange County.  While not a single woman on that show is an actual housewife (heck, most of them aren’t even married), they still keep me glued to the television for 2 hours a week!

Dog Lover Mysteries by Susan Conant: This series is a fave and a fail.  The first few books are great, the middle books get boring and preachy, and then the last few books got good again.  If you love dogs, you’ll enjoy this series, at least for awhile.

Tail Gait by Rita Mae Brown: This is the most recent in the Mrs. Murphy Mystery Series.  It’s not an amazing book, but if you’ve read all the other books in the series, it’s nice to revisit old friends.

  1. Hey Marnie! I loved your favourites this month. June is my fav month too. My sister, dad and myself celebrate our birthdays (mine is 21st!) in one week! And as a teacher, the school year comes to an end. Thanks for sharing!! I am reading Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella right now. Give it a try..a light read.

  2. Great June favourites, Marnie!
This month I’m enjoying some cute, burnished gold stud earrings from Ginger Lily in Kelowna, BC. They’re almost like a flattened oval. Very cute with my short hair.
Makeup wise, I’m going without eyeliner for a change and I love it! Opens my eyes and brightens them. Of course, not worrying about “matching wings” is a bonus!
For entertainment, I’m thoroughly enjoying The Astronaut Wives Club. The clothes, the cars and the food are amazing! Like you, I’m an Outlander lover, and to fill in the time before the next season starts and the release of the next book, I’ve just started Clan of the Cave Bears series. Have you read it?
Glad to see you blogging again; it’s a nice change from YT viewing. Thanks for your dedication to your work!
