May Follow-Ups & Favorites

MsGoldgirl May Favorites, Luisa Via Roma, Jimmy Choo, RodialSo this month’s favorites are a little bit different.  Since it’s a look back at the month’s favorites, I also thought it would be a good time to look back at other products that I’ve talked about and follow-up with you on how the product use is going, or if my opinion has changed on a product. With that in mind, let’s follow-up on a few things:

FOLLOW-UPS

I ordered this system back in February, I think, after I reviewed the smaller (you can watch that video here). I’ve used it about 3-4 times, and it’s really amazing.  Nothing is going to permanently remove hair, but this has dramatically reduced the growth time, and when it does grow in it’s so fine!  This thing was a life changer for me, but it’s not cheap.  That being said, it’s certainly far less expensive then having someone else do it to you, plus you can use it in the privacy of your own home.  It was worth every penny!

When I hauled this during the April Sephora VIB Sale, it was mostly because of the pretty packaging.  It’s gorgeous!  But I wasn’t sure how to use the product effectively.  Well, many of you offered suggestions in the comments on my videos, and I listened!  The key is to use this to set my undereye concealer.  It has brightening properties, but it’s so finely milled that it doesn’t set in my fine lines.  You all are geniuses!

My all-time favorite eyeshadow primer was the old Wet n Wild primer from their Fergie collection.  It’s been recently discontinued, and I was afraid that this new offering was going to be different, but it seems that it’s just a re-branding.  Thankfully it’s still the same awesome product!

I picked this up for my What’s New At The Drugstore-May video, and my first impression was that I didn’t like it at all.  But again, many of you suggested that I apply it when I sit down to do my makeup in order to prep my lips for lipstick and you were SO RIGHT!!  You all turned a hate it into a favorite!

FAVORITES

There are quite a mix of favorites this month-beauty products, TV shows, a new website to shop at for luxury items, nail polish and a book series.  To hear about all of these things in depth, watch the video.  But to get a quick run-down, keep reading!

BEAUTY PRODUCTS
I found my perfect pinky-red/make your teeth brilliantly white lipstick (in a crayon): .

I also found the perfect summer raspberry shade of nail polish (I’ve been wearing it for 2 weeks straight): .

I recently received the as a gift in April, and it is the Goldilocks of highlighters-not as subtle as the , but not as reflective as the .  If you’re a G.A.W., you’ll want it in your collection, but at $57, it’s not cheap. 🙁

I also found the perfect concealer for the upcoming hot, sticky, humid summer months. is just like Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Concealer, but it stays put even longer!!

I also found the perfect eyeshadow combination, thanks to Tati’s recent epic Drugstore Makeup Guide video: Start with the Maybelline Color Tattoo pencil in Bronze Truffle, then layer L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush over it all over the lid and up into the crease.  Blend out the crease and under the lower lash line with the second lightest shade in the Physicians Formula Classic Nudes quad, and you’re all set!

NON-BEAUTY FAVORITES
Two purses recently came into my life, and I love them both!! I switch off almost daily now between the Rebecca Minkoff Micro Moto Satchel in Pink and the Rebecca Minkoff Regan Satchel in Putty.  I have a feeling more Rebecca Minkoff bags will find their way into my closet!!

I wrote a whole blog post about my love for my new Jimmy Choo Patent Leather Nude Abel Pumps, and also how much I enjoyed buying them from LuisaViaRoma.  Unfortunately that color is now sold out on that website, but they have many other colors to choose from still in stock!

Finally, I’ve just finished the entire Midnight, Texas mystery series by Charlaine Harris.  She’s the author of the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire series (the books that inspired True Blood) and you’ll see some crossover between the series. Give it a chance!  I’ve also just recently watched all 22 episodes of Rosewood, a TV series on Fox.  If you like Bones, but you don’t like all the gore, give this one a chance!  Very similar genre, yet a bit of a different vibe.

That’s it for this month’s favorites!  Be sure to subscribe to the blog if you haven’t already so you don’t miss next month’s!!
