Today’s makeup look is all about the glow-glowing skin, shimmery eyes…a tricky look to pull off without looking sweaty, but a great way for us Grown Ass Women (G.A.W.) to fake a youthful, healthy look.  If you’d like to see the step by step process, please watch the video HERE.  Otherwise, follow along for a step-by-step look with photos.  The full list of all the products and tools used is at the end of the blog.

Guerlain Lingerie de Peau Foundation and It Cosmetics Heavenly Complexion Brush

I almost always start with my face before I move onto my eyes.  I chose a foundation that has a satin, not quite dewy finish, and one of my all time favorites, .  I dotted it all over my face with my fingers and then blended it in with the .

Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo Concealer

Next comes concealing-first for imperfections, then under my eyes.  For blemishes, my new favorite concealer is the .  If you’re a fan of , then you’re going to love this-it stays put even longer!

Mac Prep+Prime Radiant Rose Highlighter

Next comes the undereyes.  No matter what concealer I use, I ALWAYS start with under my eyes. It cancels out any dark circles I have, then I brighten with a concealer that is slightly lighter than my skin tone. Today I used , but I’m also a fan and frequent user of Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place concealer and .  To set it all and prevent creasing, I’ve started using the .  It’s the perfect undereye setting powder because it is so finely milled it doesn’t settle in my fine lines and it also brightness.  I then set the rest of my face with the using the Sephora Pro Airbrush #55.  The powder adds another layer of “glow” to my face.  If that’s too much glow, my other current favorite setting powder is the MAC MSF Natural in Medium.  It’s a little darker than my regular skin tone and adds some warmth to my face.

Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder for Contour

This is where making funny faces is a must-suck in those cheeks and contour!! Here I’m using another old favorite, the .  They’ve also recently released a new Light shade which is definitely on my shopping list.  Using the thin side of the Sephora Pro Brush #54, I contoured my cheekbones, then went along my jaw line and along my hair line to contour.

Makeup Revolution Vivd Baked Bronzer

Time to add more glow (can you see how I’m layering each product to add just a bit more?)!  This is a fairly recent find, and the price ($6) is drugstore level.  I’m using the Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in Ready To Go all over the perimeter of my face to help blend in the contour powder and warm up my face a bit more. My go-to bronzer brush is from the

Rodial Instaglam Illuminating Powder

Here’s the final product to add the ultimate glow-highlighter.  A new favorite of mine is the .  It looks like nothing in the pan, but once you put it on your cheekbones, BAM!!! Instant, knife-edge, paper-cutting cheekbones.  It’s not as full on as the Becca Shimmering Pressed Powders, but there’s just something about this product that is extra special.  I’m using my brush to apply the highlighter to my cheekbones, my cupid’s bow, and the center of my forehead.

Clinique Cheek Pop in Nude Pop

Time to add some color to my face, and yes, it has some glow to it too! I’ve chosen to use the ColourPop Blush in Double Dip which is no longer available, but if you want a close dupe, try the Clinque Cheek Pop in Nude Pop. Either option is a warm, glowy, satin finish blush that is quite neutral.

Anastasia Brow Wiz

Face is all done, let’s move on to the eyes. First, I fill in my brows with brow pencil.  Here I’m using Anastasia Brow Wiz in Taupe, but I’m also a frequent user of the NYX Micro Brow Pencil.  Then I brush them back into place with the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara. Then to get my lids ready for eyeshadow, I used the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Eyeshadow Primer.  It’s an old favorite that’s been rebranded and repackaged, but it’s still my favorite eye primer.

Tom Ford Cocoa Mirage

We’re almost to the finish line…first I defined my crease with the 2nd lightest shade in the .  Any warm, light brown shade will do, like Mac Soft Brown, or one of the shades from the Physicians Formula Classic Nudes Quad. Use any soft, fluffy brush-I’m using the Sigma E35 Blending Brush.  Don’t forget to add some of that light brown shadow under the lower lash line to smoke it out a bit.

Stila Kitten Eyeshadow

Now for the star of this look-Stila Kitten eyeshadow.  It’s an icy champagne pink that is not so much glittery as metallic.  It’s a great inner corner highlight, but I’m putting it all over the lid with a Mac 239 brush.

Mac Sable Eyeshadow

The final eyeshadow in this look is Mac Sable.  I like to add it to the outer corners to give a little dimension and, of course, a little more glow!!  Mac Sable is a warm, light bronze shade that can also be worn all over the lid.  I think everyone needs Mac Sable in their collection. To finish the eyes, I traced my lash line with the new Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil in D62.  These liners have just been released from MUFE and they are creamy, pigmented, come in 20 colors and once they set, they don’t budge!  Finally, after I curled my lashes I added two coats of the Estee Edit Edgiest Out Double Mascara to my upper and lower lashes.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector

To keep the look soft and day-time appropriate, I finished with my favorite lip gloss, the .  It adds just the slightest hint of color, smells like candy and keeps my lips hydrated.  Here’s the finished daytime look:

Daytime glowy spring makeup look

But then I decided to take it from day to night…simply by changing my lip color.

Lipstick Queen Cupids Bow Pencil in Daphne

Isn’t that red gorgeous? It’s the Lipstick Queen Cupid’s Bow in Daphne.  They describe it as a Rose shade, but I’d say it’s a gorgeous, very flattering pinky-red.  It goes on so creamy smooth that I thought it would smear all over my face, but it actually stayed put and wore down to a lovely stain on the lips after a few hours.

So there’s the finished look-a soft, very easy to do, glowy, spring time makeup look, appropriate for the Grown Ass Woman!

  1. Hi Marnie ….
Can you tell which product you use specifically for the inner little triangle of your eye/upper and lower lid? I have been trying a few things and they seems to glittery and get stuck in fine lines … much appreciated for any tips you can offer!

  2. Marnie – Your video was great. I am a GAW and still have learned so much from you already! I use to sell cosmetics at Neiman Marcus here in Newport Beach, CA. Wow, the coloring you have on is gorgeous! You have beautiful skin. I suffer from very dark circles under my eyes and I am going to go purchase the Prep and Primer by Mac you suggest. Thank you again for your time and showing all of us how easy this is.
